Privacy Policy
1. Who is responsible for your information
Sequence Industries is the "responsible party" under POPIA. Our Information Officer can be reached via the the National Credit Regulator (dedicated contact details to be published at launch).
2. What we collect
- Identity: name, South African ID number, contact details.
- Financial: employment status, income, bank account details, and — with your consent — copies of your ID, latest payslip and last 3 months of bank statements.
- Credit: your credit bureau profile, with your consent.
- Usage: basic technical logs when you use the website (for security and to make the site work).
3. Why we process it
We process personal information to: verify who you are; assess affordability as required by the National Credit Act; conclude and manage your credit agreement; disburse and collect payments; prevent fraud; meet legal obligations (including NCA record-keeping and reporting); and respond to your queries. We do not sell personal information, and we do not send marketing without a separate, optional consent.
4. Consent, recorded
Before we process anything for a credit application, we ask for your explicit consent — separately for personal-information processing, document submission, credit bureau enquiries and debit order authorisation. Each consent is stored with its exact wording, version, timestamp and technical origin, so there is never doubt about what you agreed to.
5. Who we share it with
- Our bank — used to disburse approved loans to your account.
- Altron — our accredited debit order processing partner (repayment collections).
- Registered credit bureaus — enquiries during assessment and reporting as required by the NCA.
- Regulators and authorities — where the law requires it.
- Service providers — hosting and infrastructure providers bound by confidentiality and POPIA-compliant agreements.
6. How long we keep it
We keep records for as long as the law requires — the NCA prescribes retention periods for credit agreements and related records — and no longer than necessary after that. Information tied to deleted or abandoned applications is removed on a defined schedule.
7. How we protect it
Data is encrypted in transit, access is restricted on a need-to-know basis enforced at the database level, and consent and transaction records are kept in tamper-evident, append-only form. No system is perfectly secure, but security is designed into ours rather than added on.
8. Your rights
Under POPIA you may: request access to the personal information we hold about you; request correction of inaccurate information; request deletion where we are not legally required to retain it; object to processing; and withdraw consent (which may mean we cannot continue with an application). To exercise any of these, use the the National Credit Regulator. You may also complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa): inforeg.org.za.
9. Cookies
This website uses only what is necessary for it to function. We will publish a detailed cookie notice if that ever changes.
10. Changes
We will update this policy as the product evolves, and the version and date at the top will always tell you what you're reading.
